Observations and reflections on the artists represented by Victoria Miro

As I browsed through the list of artists and their examples of work I noticed the gallery is representing many painters. Many of which I found quite banal and not really pushing the boundaries of art in the current visual arts culture scene. The artists I particularly found quite safe and susprised that Victoria Miro was representing them are:
Varda Caivano
David Harrison
John Korner
Jacco Olivier

On the other hand there are several artists that I had not heard of before which I am very excited about:

Doug Aitken
Alex Heartley
Francesca Woodman

The gallery's representation of reknown artists such as Peter Doig, Yayoi Kusama, Sarah Sze, Phil Collins, Chris Offili (recently did a collaboration with architect David Adjaye, listen to webcast online http://www.tate.org.uk/onlineevents/webcasts/david_adjaye/default.jsp)
and Conrad Shawcross highlights the gallery's highbrow status in the art world internationally. It is a shame the gallery does not represent younger emerging competent artists as opposed to the commercial unstimulating work of the painters mentioned earlier. This gives an insight into the commercial side of the gallery. I think I need to do more research on its intentions and ambitions and its context in the arts scene to try and understand why they picked those painters out of all the other more talented and competent, innovative artists out there today.
